iPod Touch Wifi connection problem

I've had a 2G iPod touch for about a week now and since I've been going out with it I've noticed that it isn't working correctly when connecting to different wifi networks. I have a secured network at home so when I first got it I connected, put in the key, and I was online. Earlier this week I went on a trip and connected to a public network, when I reached my destination I had a secured network that I connected to (with key)..... I was connected but none of the internet-required functions worked. It made no sense, I was connected to a wifi network yet safari, app store, etc...... didn't work at all. Same wifi network was fine with laptop. Came home to the same network that worked fine before.....didn't work.

So I restored back to factory settings (3.0 firmware).......then it worked again with my home network. Now I go to a hotel last night and connect to the free wifi there, works fine (slow but thats the hotels fault). Stop at a restaurant with an unsecured network, works fine. Get home, doesn't work w/ my secured network. It remembers the network, connects to it......... but no app store, safari, etc. Nothing.

Hopefully I'm just doing something stupid here but I can't see this being that complex....

You might need to completely reset your wifi profiles. Delete them all, re-enter the connections, see if that helps. I had trouble connecting on wifi when I upgraded to 3.0 until I did that.
