iPod touch vs iphone

I went to apple store to ask about AppleCare while I was waiting for someone I was looking around I saw iPod touch it look much like iPhone but thin and have same apps I say to myself I should have got this one because I'm hearing impaired I don't really need voice plan but I notice it doesn't have camera/video the price is expensive than iPhone

the iPhone is only cheap if you enter a 2 year contract. Full retail it's much more expensive than a Touch. And while I haven't read anything offical, the 3rd generation Touch should be out soon. No idea on the specs, but it should have a camera just like the 3GS. Don't quote me on that though.

Quebert is right, it's more expensive once you factor in the required 2 year contract and data plan. Look at what they are selling for on Ebay.

If you buy an iPhone and immediately drop it and pay the fees, it costs:
iPhone 32GB 3G S - $299 + $70 (1 month service) + $35 (activation) + ($175 early termination fee) = $580

vs.

iPod Touch 32GB = $370

And Quebert is also correct - there is likely going to be a new iPod Touch announced in early Sept. and the rumors are that it will have a camera.

In terms of features:
iPod Touch
Thinner
Lighter
Cheaper (w/o a contract)
Nike+iPod capability
Less hassle purchasing it

iPhone 3GS
Cell phone capability
3.2MP autofocus digital camera
video recording and editing capability
GPS
Digital compass (somewhat handy with the GPS)
Faster CPU - faster load times on games and better responsiveness overall
128MB RAM - faster load times on games and better responsiveness overall
Voice memo capability
Voice control - "play playlist classical", "shuffle", etc.

Corrected - thank you to TheStu

Much longer battery life - if not using it for calls and such

256MB More RAM - faster load times on games and better responsiveness overall

The 32GB iPod Touch is $399 on Apple's website, where did you get $370 from? Another site?

The Touch has 36|6 hours of playback (audio|video)
The iPhone has 30|10 hours of playback (audio|video)

Everything else is correct, except that the iPhone only has 128MB more RAM, it has 256MB total and the Touch has 128MB total.

Thanks for the corrections. Although the battery one doesn't make sense to me - the iPhone has a much bigger battery (50% bigger 1350mAh iPhone vs. 900mAh in the Touch http://www.ipodbatteryfaq.com/ipodbatteryandpower.html). If you turn off the phone, bluetooth and Wifi, it seems like the iPhone should have longer playback.

And yeah, $370 was from Amazon.

Thank you guys for all informations I never really need a voice plan with iPhone I thought iPod touch is good buti already have 3GS I should have research bit more before buying either one
