ipod touch jailbreak question

I used QuickPwn22 to jailbreak a friends iPod, he had the 2.2 firmware before I jailbroke it. Cydia's on it but Installer isn't. I googled this and a few links are saying a 2.2 firmware iPod Touch can't have installer on it and you have to downgrade the firmware to 1.1.4, jailbreak it again then you can upgrade back to 2.2 to have installer. This sounds fishy to me, I couldn't find more than 2 links to support this and what people say on forums I take with a grain of salt.

I tried running QuickPwn22 again and made sure that Installer was checked to install, but still nothing. I found a guide on how to install installer but it requires you to install SSH on your Touch which requires Installer to install (I think? haha)

any help here would be LOVELY 🙂
