Ipod Speakers, Speakers, or Mini-Stereo System - Suggestions?

So seeing as I spend my whole life in my goddamned windowless office (the dark side of working as I do), I've decided to get either (1) one of those speakers with ipod cradle, (2) a set of small, but super-quality speakers for my iPod or (3) a great-quality mini desk stereo system with speakers with which I can listen to CDs and also hookup my ipod to.

I don't have time to do the requisite consumer research I would normally do (read the reviews, figure out whats out there, etc), so I was hoping some of you audiophiles could suggest one of the above from our vast experience and familiarity with the area.

Any ideas? My main concern with the iPod cradle ones is that they'll sound like sh1t. I like good-quality sound with sufficient bass. Tiny speakers bother the hell out of me.

Any other suggestions?

exactly, hook up the ipod directly to a set of computer speakers....no computer involved

Which iPod do you have? If one with a dock connector, use the dock , which will use line out. The Z3 Logitechs or the Bose Companion 3's should be small and decent. If you want better sound, it all depends on how big they can get. Also check your PM box🙂
