heya

My buddy just got a 20 gig ipod today and he just wants to transfer over his MP3 folder. He doesnt want to put in each of his albums seperately, nor use itunes to pay for songs he already has, so is there a program out there that does this? Or is the program that comes with the ipod work with this type of application? Thanks.

I use Ephpod. It's pretty simple. Add directory and after a few minutes (depending on the size of your mp3 collection) they're all there.

Open iTunes.

Don't choose to find anything automatically (it can mess up folder organization).

Drag & drop your folders of MP3s on to the "library" on the left side of the iTunes window. Give it a minute to update if there's a lot.

Synchronise with your iPod. Voila.

how do you synchronise with your ipod? My buddy has added all of his MP3's (1,200) and the ipod is connected, yet he doesnt think anything is happening.

How to just transfer mp3's
Sell it and get one that doesn't punish you because some other people pirate music. With the extra $ get quality headphones. Voila!

Or instead you can get an iRiver and use it as the hard drive it is... I love how people tout its ease of use and then turn around and link a damn book on how to get around the copy protection for music you own as if ease of use doesn't apply to that aspect of it.. goes to show just how effective advertising is

:cookie: Such venom! Did someone beat you with an iPod as a child?

iRivers are a fine option as well, but they offer no real advantage in the OPs friend's situation. Now if he wanted to easily pull MP3s off his player onto a computer that didn't have those files, that would be another matter entirely.

Yes

I tend to get flamed viciously anytime I make a post which implies Apple employees don't fart Chanel #5, and it's hard to quell my battlefield instincts :p My apologies.

No worries. :D Last I heard, Apple employee's farts do stink. Sorry about your rough upbringing. ;)

It will be interesting to see if the iPod can maintain's its market position in the next couple years. Apple definitely blazed ground in popularizing the portable MP3 player category (with design andmarketing), but the competition has been awake for a while now...
