I've ignored the iPod craze from the beginning, but I'm now in the market for a larger capacity MP3 player and I'm feeling rather ignorant. I probably only need about 30GB of space for my MP3 collection and I'm wondering if I can use the remaining space on an 80GB iPod as a portable hard drive. Also, could I compress some DVDs and watch them on the Ipod or is there a problem with this. I've heard that you have to use iTunes as an interface for the iPod and some have voiced frustration over this, but I'm not really sure why. Can anyone enlighten me on the iPod or recommend an alternative brand? My budget if fairly limited and the $250 for the new 80GB iPod will be a bit of a stretch, but I'm willing to save-up for it if the notions I mentioned above work out for me.
Thanks in advance.
