Ipod question

Just recently got a 20gb 3rd Gen Ipod.

I connected it to my shuttle via Ipod Dock.

On the display it says do not disconnect. It's been going like this for about an hour or so. Is it because it's charging ?

When you want to disconnect it, use the Unplug or Eject Hardware button in the system tray to eject it. Or else just use iTunes' eject button.

This makes sure all writes and stuff are flushed, etc. so you don't potentially lose any data.
