ipod question: how do I transfer music to another computer from the ipod??

i don't have an ipod so i have no clue. With my mp3 player, i forget the name of it since im so tired, byt anyway i just plug it in and it detects it as a mass storage device and everything is there. It should be silmiar? Or does WinXP never detect it?
