Ipod Problem

So I am about to head to class, I plug in my Ipod to update some music on it and even after its updated it says "please do not disconnect."

So if I eject it a check mark apeers on the screen saying "ok to disconnect" all the while at the top of the screen it says "disk mode." And it doesn't have the normal appearance on the screen sort of looking black and white, there is no color.

Any idea what happened? I tried to restore it and just reload the music but something goes wrong when it tries to connect to the Apple Ipod server, I get an error message so it won't let me do that.

Thanks for any help.

The only thing is, I have no idea how that combinations of buttons could have been pushed to do that.😕
