I know I'm going to buy an ipod it's just a matter of when really. I don't currently own an ipod but I want to get one. The only reason I want to wait is because I would like to get an 80GB version of an ipod. However I have no idea if/when Apple will release an 80GB version. I don't care about any of the extra/new features that might come out in a new ipod except the storage size. So what do you guys think I should do? I don't want to wait a year for an 80GB one, but I wouldn't mind waiting a couple of months. If I where to buy a 60GB now and an 80GB came out in a year I wouldn't care, but if an 80GB comes out a month or two after I buy a 60GB I won't be real happy.

If you want one, just go get it now. Is the other 20GB actually something you "need"? They will keep making the thing better, or at the very least keep changing it. If you've got the cash now, go grab one and have fun. You "could" always sell it later when a newer one comes out and probably not be out much money.

Technology keeps updating itself. If you wait, you'll eventually wish you had gotten the new one. Just get it now and when the new one comes around, just be glad knowing that you used it during the time you would've been waiting.

Well my music collection is currently 65GB. It won't grow to much more. I'll add more here and there when new music comes out but it's not like I'll be at 80GB in a year. So I'd like to have all of my music on the player. I won't like having to manually select what I don't want on it.

If you wait, you'll never buy one. Video iPod came out not long ago, just get one.

I don't care about the "flash"/"trendyness" of the player. I've used a good majority of the HD based mp3 players and I think ipod UI is by far the best. Price/Storage Size is about equal between all of the players.

Fair enough. My vote would be to go through your collection and axe some stuff, personally, but that's because I'm annoying and don't know what I'm talking about. ;)

Yeah but they seem to release new ones fairly regularly. The Video iPod is 4 months old.

Well, I got the nano for Christmas and wish I didn't in a way, because what I wanted the most is to use an iTrip, but from what I understand there IS NO iTRIP FOR THE NANO. :(

They have nothing up their sleeve for now. If they did, they'd have announced it at MacWorld.

What's so good about iPod's UI? I never understood that. It took me hours to figure out how to get music into my iPod because I accidentally clicked disconnect once and it wouldn;t reconnect... :|

But, yeah, I would get it now, the iPod video is quite sexy

i've bought the 10gb ipod, then 3rd gen 15gb, then the mini, and now the nano. each time, i sold the previous version for a good price and upgraded to the next available player after about a year of usage. i was happy with the resale value.

That is what I would do too. No sense in wasting money for music you don't like.

It's so quick, simple, and easy to find the music I want to listen to. Also fast forward, volume, etc.. are so nice and easy. The other players aren't nearly as quick and simple.

But I like all the music I have. I might not totally love 100% of it but I guess I'm anal. I only have full albums of music. I don't have just 1 song of 1 cd. If I don't have the full CD for the songs I like, then I don't have the song.

WTF would you use an 80gb for? That's way overkill...I have 3000 songs on my 30gb and still have 15gb left to put some movies and stuff on it...
