You need to calibrate the battery 1st. Then you have to factor in the format of the music you're playing and how you play it. You get longer battery life w/ 128kbps encoded AAC tracks in straight order.

what does the manual say? sometimes the first charge needs to be like 5~8 hours.

Also remember battery life depends on how you encode your music. Higher bitrates, VBR, more complex algorithms take more power to decode. Listening volume also affects battery life, as does backlight usage.
