Hmm, USB 2.0... The ipod has had firewire for how long now, and the sustained transfers are about the same as usb 2.0, more or less.

And ethernet, what's the point of that? Either way, it's ugly 🙂

Umm.... hooking it up to your network to use in conjunction with a media server? Allowing more than one person to download from the device at the same time?

The new iPods support USB 2.0.

Granted, you have to buy a cable. But it is still supported.

if you could transfer to it over ethernet wouldent that be faster then FW?

The pearl design is based on ergonomic principles. Hands are not rectangular.

The cases for portables tend to be designed for protection while the unit is in use (controls accessible and screen viewable) rather than plain transportation of the unit and its accessories. I can see how a second type of case (similar to a camera case) would be useful.
