My cousin got a new Macbook and she used to use a PC.

So I transfered her music onto the Macbook.

When you sync the music from the Macbook to the iPod it works but then in the 800 - 1200 range it stalls out and then quits. It claims that either the iPod disconnected, or there were permission issues. What I mean with stalling out is that the speed goes really slow and then it gets unresponsive.

I took my iPod out and tried and it sucessfully synced past 1600 so I quit.

I'm thinking her iPod is borked. It's a 80 GB iPod video.

EDIT: What I also did was make a playlist that syncs to the iPod. I added music to the playlist and then synced it. I did this for over 1100 in 100 or so songs. I would add 100 songs, and then sync. This seemed to work but then it did the same thing. It got slow and crashed. I was around 1300 songs loaded onto it.

Yup, probably her iPod and it sounds like the hard drive is messed.

Did it just randomly stop working when changing computers or had she not used it or updated it in a while?

Definitely sounds like the iPod, especially if your iPod worked. I mean it could be the evil OS X... but what are the odds?
