I just restored my ipod to windows version using ipod updater restore button. Now it wants me to update to the latest firmware, how do I do it? I'm new to ipod. Please help, thank you!

I plugged in the ipod to the firewire but it won't recognize it. Please help.

All I see is a picture of the firewire plug and the ipod shuts off. What's wrong?!

I believe the iPod (Windows version) comes with MusicMatch. You should be able to send the mp3s to the iPod with that app... you can always read the manuals 🙂:sun:

I just put some songs in my ipod using Windows updater and ephpod.

I didn't get any manual since I got it used, just the ipod itself.

Thanks.

Does the ipod just have a flashing "do not disconnect" sign while the music are transferred into the ipod? I noticed it doesn't stop even though the songs are done transferring.

EDIT: Does the ipod just turn off by itself? How do you turn it off manually? 😕

The "Do Not Disconnect" sign happens whenever the iPod is connected to a computer, and the drive is mounted. Unmount the drive, and it'll let you disconnect. As for turning it off, you can only turn it off when it's not plugged in to something, which is done by holding the play button.

Thanks. But does it also turn off when the ipod is idle, or not in use automatically?

What do you mean by drive being mounted? You mean the ipod being plugged to the computer by firewire cable? Thanks.

When Windows detects a Windows formatted iPod being plugged in, it mounts the iPod's drive as an exteral hard-drive. You have to unmount this drive in order to be able to disconnect the iPod. The icon to do this will be in your system tray, which you just need to double-click on, and then tell it to remove the iPod. As for auto-off, I believe iPods will shut off automatically after 5 minutes if idle(assuming they're not plugged in to anything, and not playing anything).

Hold down the play button for a few seconds to turn it off.

Hold down the pause button for a few seconds to toggle backlight.

Hold down play + pause together for a few seconds to reboot the iPod.
