Ipod Classic 160gb

I just plugged my iPod Classic into iTunes and I got a window saying I need an iPod update. I clicked on update and update resulted in my iPod going blank. I tried to reset it by holding down the Menu and Center buttons and I got the Apple logo but I can't get anything else to come up. All I can see is a very faint "Do not disconnect" continuously flashing. Can anyone help?

Yes it did. But I was put off by a warning that I would lose my entire library by doing a "necessary" restore. I'm now in contact with a superv isor by phone and I got my iPod back but I'm having to re-sync my library and It appears that I will be missing about a third of it because they came from other than iTunes originally. What's up with that?

My ipod 160 classic hasn't been connected to iTunes in 8 years. I still have yamipod on it and just drag and drop.

Thanks for the tip about yamipod. I had not heard of it before. However, when I downloaded it from the yamipod site I got a program called Wonder Share. Is thatit?

Had similar happen on one pc in particular this was running win7 with a couple different ipod Nanos I had. Managed to get through it by either doing hard resets till the computer properly recognized it to continue the update, or by plugging in, unplugging till it was recognozed, or by using a different pc that was not having the same difficulty in recognizing the device.

Nope. I downloaded it years ago.

Keep my old classic 160GB plugged in my car and was thinking of syncing it.

Now I'm not so sure...
