IPOD can't be recognized with new USB controller :(

I bought a 2 port USB 2.0 controller with an ALI Chipset from newegg, and installed it yesterday. Windows automatically detected the drivers for it.

I went to hook up my new iPod, and windows detected a mass storage device connected. The problem is that when I go to access my files, they dont' show up, and most of the time programs trying to access it freeze. iTunes doesn't even recognize the drive at all

But when I hook it up through my old USB 1 ports from my mobo, it gets detected as a mass drive again, but iTunes notices it, and I can access/transfer files to it. I would like to get the USB 2 card to work so that it will be much faster.

I tried installing differant drivers, but when I do that and restart the computer, it detects the new hardware for the new drivers, then redetecs it immediatly afterwards with the default windows drivers.

Any help? I highly appreciate anything!

Are you sure that that iPod is actually a USB 2.0 compatible device? I know that USB is "supposed" to be backwardly compatible (ie, you should be able to plug a 1.0 device into a 2.0 port), but I've found that that's not really always the case, and have seen several instances where a 1.0 device WILL NOT work in a 2.0 controller. (my old webcam, for example, will only go into a 1.0 port, otherwise it won't even start).

Since it works in 1.0, that would seem to be the most logical conclusion.

Alternatively, go into your device manager (Start, Control Programs, Add/Remove Hardware, Device Manager), open up the USB 2.0 controller properties, go to Driver, then Reinstall driver, and force it (by selecting the location to install from) to use the drivers that were supplied with the device. That should prevent Windows from annoyingly writing its own crap on top of it, and perhaps the better drivers will allow it to work.

iPod is actually a USB 2.0 compatible device. The weird thing is that I couldn't seem to transfer files to my iPod with my USB 1.1 ports but after I bought a USB 2.0 controller card it worked.
