IPOD cable?

My brother is sending me a 10gig IPOD he bought off of ebay. Doesn't have a dock, just a firewire cable.

I have a thinkpad with a USB 1.1 port, is there a cable I can buy to hook the ipod directly to my computer?

Also, can I use the USB1.1 since the IPOD is 2.0?

Thanks!

Yeah, well honestly I don't have 10 gigs worth of mp3's, so it'll be like a one time transfer.

Much rather just buy a cable.

3rd gen iPods are USB too, but judging by what xchangx said, I'm doubting it's a 3rd gen; probably 2nd gen.

Depends. 1st and 2nd gen iPod's are FW only. The 3rd gen iPods are FW and USB 2.0.

if theres no dock, as he said, its 1st or 2nd gen ipod. you will have to buy a pcmcia firewire card, its the only way to transfer files to the ipod. not to mention its probably 10 or 20 times faster than usb1.1.

All 3rd gen iPods come w/a dock except for the 10gig version.
