i really like ipods, the only thing is that i have trouble justifying paying $50 more from something that has a fifth of the storage even though i'll prolly not use it...

not sure if i should go back and edit out all my comments about ipods or sell this thing and get an iriver

I'm not a big iPod fan either, but the nano is seriously impressive. If it would play WMA and work with WMP instead of iTunes, I'd buy one in an instant. I refuse to give up being an MS whore.

Use the winamp plugin for ipods (assuming apple hasn't blocked it yet)

The management software doesn't matter, iPods still can't play wma! :|
Why can't these assholes on both sides just open up to all popular formats and drag and drop interfaces so we can put whatever the fvck we want on our players however the fvck we want? I'm sick of the handholding.

...i have trouble justifying paying $50 more from something that has a fifth of the storage

I have trouble justifying paying several hundred dollars just to have portable music, let alone using a fragile HDD as the means to accomplish that. BTW, how did the other "bite the dust"?

Nano is 4 gigs of flash RAM.

I hope that's addressed to the OP, but it's redundant, since that's what MY reply is in reference to!

Ornery... yes, hard drives crash and yes they're very fragile. You do know however that the ipod's hard drives are probably specially made so that they can withstand a certain amount of rough handling and what not.

I've got a 3rd gen ipod that's worked incredibly well, and I use it when riding bike, jogging, driving in my car, trips, anything I can think of

When you are on the go for 3 hours a day its easily justified.
