I have noticed that many people have the problem with apple's ipod battery replacement....

I took a flight to Europe this Summer and have a 2nd gen ipod that had the original battery. I wanted to get an extended battery that would last the entire flight (about 10 hours total air time). So I got one from HERE.

I think the original battery was something like 1000 or 1200 mAh and the replacement was 1600 mAh. They include illustrated instructions and tools for opening the ipod case. It took all of about 10 minutes to make the battery change, and it's been working fine ever since.

thanks hallf... that looks like a much more legit & clean site 🙂 their resellerratings is slightly lower than i'd like, but most of the bad reviews seem to be from irrational people for stupid reasons... i'll give them a shot.
