I'm using the latest version of iPhoto '09 (8.1.1) and it's been VERY frustrating uploading photos to Facebook.
1) If I use the built-in iPhoto/Facebook sync, the tags I add on FB's side will get wiped out from iPhoto every time it tries to "synchronize." (see here)
But that's not the biggest problem - the FB sync likes to randomly leave out 13 photos. I just synced an album of 63 photos, but only 50 showed up on FB! Last night I did another album of 131 but only 117 showed up on FB 🙄
- captions in iPhoto don't transfer to the export automatically, even though it claims it should (see #3: "The captions are auto-filled with any comments you've already made through iPhoto.")
- bigger problem: the color/sharpness of the photo is drastically reduced using the Exporter. I mean, the difference in quality with using this Exporter is like night and day... colors are washed out, and the photos are *really* blurry. (Here's a recent discussion)
Is there anyone out there who's figured this whole thing out? In the meantime I'm going to try using Picasa instead.

2) I've also tried the Facebook Exporter for iPhoto, which has its own set of problems.
