Iphoto 08

Heh.. I just started using the iPhoto '06 that came with my new MBP. I'm not sure whether to bother shelling out the cash for the update, and I'm leaning toward not doing so. The iLife '08 suite is getting mixed reviews everywhere, looks like.

give me about two hours😉

I will be making some family albums by tomorrow and I'll let you know

Can't make it to the apple store until midweek and I couldn't wait😱

<---buying it for imovie and the exporting abilities of all the apps (family needs something easy with great results)😀 family pack is cheap too😀

*currently using iphoto 06 for some calenders and stuff and it's working great...going to send out for a photobook as well 😀*

their printing options + using lightroom or aperture or photoshop even, make photoshop elements and other options look like trash..😛

haven't seen what flicker and snapfish[sic?] can do though....

I'm holding out for Leopard to get iLife & iWork 08. The new Numbers apps looks awesome! Are there any significant changes to iPhoto? I don't like the current iPhoto; I use Picasa under Windows in Parallels instead lol.

I was going to hold out...until I was told that leopard doesn't come with ilife or iwork🙁

they are only bundled with new macs🙁

1. skimming dealy is nice. It's such a small feature, but running through an album by moving your mouse over an event is nice and saves time.

2. the navigation section is a tad bit more polished with more categories. projects are now in their own section.

3. Events + folders with albums should make for a ncie combo. It seems a lot less complicated then in Adobe PS elements. I bought that for my folks and it was a disaster...TOO much use of tags...

4. I am ordering some books/calendars and HOLY CRAP is it expensive🙁 Only some calendars I guess...

the new imovie has issues..none of my previous projects work in it:|

I had to import all the raw DV files and lost all my transitions..at least imovieHD is still there...

as for iDVD, the new menus are tight, and hopefully some will release more😀

I gotta say, I'm pretty new to this whole i "stuff" thign and am really likign it.

The integration between imovie, i photo, itunes, and he like is just SICK....changing placeholders is so sick its even funny...so slick

The big thing about all the iApps is the inter-cooperation. And apparently the new iLife apps take it to a whole new level what with iPhoto being able to hand things off to iWeb, or upload to .Mac, then you can send those photos off to iMovie and polish it, add some music, som nifty effects, or chapters and then send it off to iDVD.

aye....the imovie +itunes+iDVD +iphoto coop action is fantastic. I just made a DVD for family that included content from every single app🙂

keep in mind that this is very entry level, and if you expect more you hit a wall..FAST.

good stuff for quick edits for the family..🙂

think ill give iLife a miss, i mean really i dont use any of it except maybe the dvd player and itunes.

i have my canon software and an PS CS2 for photos and another program called just looking to browse shots with so. if i had a good video cam i would probably make good use of iMovie or whatever, perhaps when i get back to uni some one who films the breaking events might lead to me using it.

on the other hand though, iWork08 looks like a decent upgrade now that it has a slick excel counterpart

I really like iLife for what it is. I wish I had it when making little hamlet clips in high school. Premiere was a PITA. But OS 9 back in the day far more so (and well, lack of iLife, heh).

But unfortunately, it's all pretty weak for me. Altho, is there a new DVD player, or is that bundled w/ Leopard? iPhoto should have had events ages ago. And .Mac is far too expensive I think. Altho, 10GB of space rounds it out better. I would still rather have less space and host w/ HostPC anyway, heh.

We can't use any DRM'd stuff from iTunes in anything can we? I do wish I could make use of GarageBand.. seems cool, but I am not musically talented, heh

That's the key.

It's incredibly weak when compared with even photoshop or premeire elements, and Sony's DVD Studio (Vegas lite) trashes it. Don't even get me started with anything higher....there isn't even a discussion to be had...

That said, I was vacationing with the family all weekend and I couldn't have made a quicker DVD....good stuff....only had like 30min of free time. The key to the suite is its simplicity. For quick stuff or for the novice user it rocks...

Yes, you can used DRM'd stuff in every app except Garageband iirc. I sure used a lot of stuff in the DVD I made....

frankly, the changes aren't woth upgrading for now for most people...very minute and aesthetically oriented nwo that I think about it....

really it's the suite as a whole that's been upgraded.
