I don't get it. What's your point? This is hardly the first gold, diamond, or crystal encrusted iPhone and it won't be the last.

You'd have to be a complete idiot to buy a gold plated phone that's only going to be supported 3 years tops. I'll take four!

I am willing most that buy it will be upgrading to what ever is new next year.

No different than those on food stamps buying a $600 iPhone without a contract.
