To add to the ridiculousness...

I can't access USB settings from the main settings -> storage screen. It doesn't show up in my options. All I get is storage (device memory) + sd card.

To get to the usb settings, I need to plug it into my computer, select the "touch for other usb options" option, which brings me BACK to the "storage settings" menu which I was at previously, except now I have new options.

So 2 ways to get me to the same settings menu that shows a different result depending on how I accessed that settings menu (whether through actual settings or from "touch for other usb options").

I'm groaning like a mother fucker.

After changing it back to MTP from the camera setting it was on, my computer now just cycles @ "Found New Hardware: MTP Device"

I'm groaning like a mother fucker but at least I figured this shit out.

Also, can't take a screen shot while notification drawer is open. After changing it back to MTP from the camera setting it was on, my computer now just cycles @ "Found New Hardware: MTP Device"

USB Setting are under "Wireless and Networks" not "Storage". In your case try the more option below "Data Usage"

not anymore. As you can see in the picture, clicking on the "click for more usb options" clearly brings me to the storage settings sub-menu

I don't know about Touchwiz but on AOSP ICS, it's under storage. There's additional option menu you can open by tapping on option menu on the top right corner in storage. It's definitely not intuitive.

Yeah, an iPhone is more limiting, I'll grant ya'll that. But somewhere around 2005 I decided I wanted to stop fucking with my phone and I just wanted it to work.

It's almost to the point now where I'm ready to throw my ICS touchpad against the wall. I. Really starting to hate that fucking thing. It makes me want to use a real computer again.

Ah, looks like some TouchWiz fuckery is what caused your problems Ns1.

Can you blame Android? Maybe. I mean, they do allow manufacturers and carriers to mess with the interface, adding their own interfaces. Sometimes, as in the case of HTC Sense, it works out pretty well. Other times (Blur and TouchWiz) it just sucks.

Either way I'm glad you figured it out.

I feel that has more to do with the TouchPad being a shitty tablet and a whole lot of YMMV with community software where bugs are an acceptable norm.

I dont know about limiting....but me and my kids mother found it confusing coming from Android and the old Win Mo.

We just found iOS kinda confusing. Like I didnt know where BlueTooth was. She thought you had to get an app. I was used to it being in Wireless and Networks on Win Mo and Android. Its in General on iOS. Unless things have changed since the iPhone 4.

The whole easier to use, so intuitive thing is all relative, matter of perspective.

I agree that issues with custom UI's cant be blamed on Android. Blame whatever issues that are because of the UI's on UI's. Same for suspect hardware.

When I had a Verizon G Nex...I had issues getting it to be recognized by my XP machine. I think I had to connect it to my Win 7 one. I just have issues with my XP machine period. I cant even connect external harddrives anymore unless I disable Outpost Firewall.
