I have the 19.99 tmobile unlimited web/text package on my jailbroken iphone with firmware 3.0. As of late last night, the data portion stopped working. I read up on modmyi.com that tmobile is pushing people to the 24.99 data plan instead of what they have now, and its only a $5.00 increase for me to go to it, but still..

If you remember, this happened a month or two ago where we lost data service for a day or so and then it came back.. something about a global outage or whatever.

At any rate, please post here if you have lost your data service on tmobile with the iphone and if you have read anything or have any tips to try other than opening the wallet and spending more cash.

Thanks,

Slag

T-Mobile has a $25 a month data plan? That's pretty freaking awesome. Most of the other providers try to nail you with a $60 plan!

That's on top of voice. So a standard $40 voice plan + $25 for data.

When did they raise the plan to $25? And when did the $19.99 include texts? Is that something sly the iPhone does because it uses data for texts or something? As far as I can remember, it was $19.99 for unlimited data, and either $5/$10/$15 for the 400/1000/unlimited texts.

I dont use an iPhone so it doesnt matter to me.
And I still think T-mobile is by far the easiest to deal with because they dont gimp their own phones and they are cool about you bringing an outside phone to their service. AT&T is anal about controlling everything and everyone on their network, and Sprint & Verizon arent any better.

Even with this price raise T-mobile is still the best for folks who want some freedom in their cellular usage.

Yep, I have flex pay so i am not locked into a contract. :)

Unlimited Web + Unlimited Messages for phones $19.95/month*
Includes:
Unlimited Web access
Unlimited domestic text, picture, e-mail, and instant messages.

I was incorrect though. The next plan up isnt 24.99/month, its 34.99/month. EEK

They better fix this :)

Looks like they're changing the flex play to more reflect the regular contract price for data then. I just looked, data + messaging is still $35 for me, $25 now for just data, and individual messaging plans are still the same 5/10/15...so if you want data and any messaging you're better off with the $35 all unlimited plan.

shortylickens, I've had T-Mobile for almost a decade now. They have great customer service, I've almost always brought my own phone, and you get a ton of minutes (I pay $40 for 1000 anytime/unlimited N&W). Its a shame they haven't kept up with data, though. Their 3G service is spotty at best - and even when you're on 3G, its slow compared to Sprint/Verizon (can't speak for AT&T). Plus, they don't offer a lot of the data-based services the others do, like the NFL Live feature on Sprint.

I noticed last week I lost data on my iPhone - sort of. I'm on the Sidekick prepaid plan, and haven't had any money on my account lately, but just got credited this past weekend for the second $10 from activations. Went to browse, and couldn't get anything (got a quick popup that goes away real fast). :(

Email and IM would still work though (usually).

I was on the $6/month unlimited data plan for years with T-Mobile on my iPhone until I switched to AT&T and data used to go down frequently for me (at $6/month, I wasn't complaining). I used to think that it was always caused by my $6 plan but it always turned out to be some problem on T-Mobile's end and they would fix and service would come back.

Yeah, same thing. My wife and I had an older grandfathered 2-line T-Mobile family plan for $40, and then I had a $6 data plan, and then I had 20% off from my employer.

The jump to our new AT&T equivalent plan so that I could get 3G service on a 3GS was a bit painful.

AT&T has a $15 plan. You only pay $60 if you go into the ATT store and sign up with them word for word....

Where the hell is AT&T $60 a month for data? Data is $30/month for an iPhone (or any PDA for that matter). It's $60 a month for data with tethering, same shit as Verizon.
