Wife deleted a message last night while half asleep from her 5S.

Message came in and was zapped within 1 minute, so i do not think it was backed up to the "cloud" backup system.

She needs it back without creating a family drama.

How?

I am not an iPhone person, so if there is a sequence, i will need details how to get there from primary screen.

]Old thread.

Duplicated here from Apple forum at OP's request.

Its either backed up in icloud or not. If its like a court case type thing you can subpoena the carrier to provide it however you must have an active legal thing going on. Carriers save SMS/text data for a bit but they have huge privacy concerns so unless its asked for from a court it will not be provided.

Check her I cloud account. If it's not there, it's gone.

I have checked the iCloud account - not there

It was zapped to quickly.
Can't she just request a resend? "I fat fingered a button, and didn't get to read it"

Yes she can requested a resend; but the unneeded drama of egos is what is being tried to be avoided. Some do not believe in accidents; this is one

Ha just say the truth, I got the message or picture but the phone got screwed up and it was deleted

There's an app for that apparently.

I have no personal experience with this but it sounds like your only shot.

Sorry man. Imessage is world class encryption. If there is a way to recover it, it's going to be more of a pain than saying, "I accidentally deleted that text. Any way to resend?"

Alternately, deny ever receiving it. That's a trivial feat compared to Hillary Clinton positing she'd require two phones to use a government email account. Lost in the ether is much more plausible in comparison.
