iPhone SE and 9.7" iPad Pro CPU results

OTOH based upon the other results I saw, the iPhone SE is roughly the same performance as the 6S.

Liking that 9.7'' iPad Pro, would be perfect at $499. Waiting for AnandTech's review, info about A8X vs A9X power consumption or normalized battery life would be appreciated.

iPad Air 2 at $399 (less once you throw some discounts) is a great deal, still packs plenty of power.

I was fully expecting NOT to upgrade. But then given the price, I'd thought it'd have 4 GB RAM. But it doesn't. WTF at that price?!?

Looks like the Air 2 is going to have the same longevity as the iPad 2, which makes me happy, since I have two of the Air 2, one bought in 2015 and one bought in 2014. Yes, 2014! And it seems even in 2016, for most people the machine to get is still the Air 2.

Well, I'm glad I skipped the 1 GB iPad Air, and waited for the 2 GB iPad Air 2.

I don't think 2 GB will be a big problem any time soon. Occasionally limiting, but the more pressing concerns are the 1 GB iDevices obviously.

The iPhone SE looks fantastic (Also because I hate big screen phones). But its also a show of the new world Apple have to adapt to. Selling an iPhone 6S with a smaller screen for 400$. The huge downturn in smartphone sales is hitting all.

Everytime I look into a friend 4" smartphone it feels tiny.. Web surfing on a 4" isn't that good either.

I really think that the proper size is between 4.7" and 5.1" depending on bezels.

For one-hand use, 3.5" / 4"'s are perfect, imo. I take that over the convenience of browsing on a larger screen.

Think it's clear, if you require a multi-tasking mamooth, this isn't that device per se (grab the new Galaxy S7 w/ 4 gigs of RAM instead or better yet the upcoming Galaxy Note w/ stylus). I have used the current Galaxy Note, and it's been great for serious / pro productivity, the included stylus is very handy. But you have to compromise and prioritize things that are important for you.

I too have average hands and even 4", I have to strech my thumb finger a little bit sometimes, but not as bad. The 4S size was absolutely perfect for me (one-hand use), vertical size wise. I have had 4.5", 4.7", 5.0" handsets and they were only usable with my both hands. When I drive, this becomes a big deal for me.

EDIT: So I ended up carrying 2 devices, depending on situation, I use what is most suitable. Good for battery life too.

Yeah, I won't be upgrading my Air 2 after all. My sister was pressuring me to upgrade and give her the Air 2 at a favourable price, but I'm not putting ~+350$ just to upgrade it given that the Air 2 does everything I need as well as the first day.
Only things I'll miss is the possibility of using the Pencil (but at a +100$ cost) and the upgraded speakers for hulu/netflix in bed. but given that I have been doing that just fine since 2014 with this iPad, meh.

What I am regretting is having bought the 6s in October and not waiting for the SE. Although I'm not sure I would have chosen the SE without using a 6s for a few months. But now? Yes, I would go back to a 4" in a heart beat. Specially the 5s/SE design, It's just so comfy in the hand.

I'm liking the price decrease on the current Air 2, I may have to grab one.

I used to think I wanted the smaller iPhone (4.7"), but I bought the plus instead. After a week of using it, I wouldn't want to go back to anything smaller. Obviously this is a personal preference, but most people I've talked to have gotten used to it as well and wouldn't go back.

Isnt the Air 2 18 months old? So rather than simply updating the SoC and passing the innovation down to the customer they create a new product and inflate the price? That is greedy even for apple. It's not like the BoM cost is $200 more vs the iPad Air 2 when it launched.

NotebookCheck results out. Good news is CPU performance is on par with the 12'' model. Bad news is, GPU performance is not (only 30-35% faster than A8X). $399 iPad Air 2 is the better deal IMHO.
