I don't see how you can say it's an at&t problem. Didn't you have 3G on your N95? If you still have it, the next time you have a problem with the iPhone, (and I'm sorry, but there will be a next time.) take the sim out of the iPhone, and try it in the N95. You will then see it's not at&t.

The next time you can't connect to the internet, try putting your phone into airplane mode for 10 -15 seconds. When you take it off, the phone might get internet back. It works for me 70% of the time.

Yes, there is a difference. Most of at&t towers are using 1900MHz, but some are using the better 850MHz. 850Mhz is better because it penetrates walls more than 1900MHz does. I read that at&t plans on converting 3G to 850MHz only, but who knows how long that will take.

It triples the battery capacity. It's not a "spare" battery per se, but it also doesn't involve powering down the phone and taking a cover off to replace the battery. And, even better than a real spare battery, I can charge it in parallel with the iPhone battery (plug Zap into iPhone, plug Zap into wall, both charge at the same time). It also was pretty cheap for what it is - I got it for $45 from Sewell Direct. The downside is that it makes the iPhone a bit bulky while it's connected, but it transfers charge fairly quickly and it's really not that thick.

My Zap died after only a few months yesterday, as did someone else's. See this thread.

UPDATE:

I contacted the company I bought the Zap from. They put me in contact with someone at the manufacturer who gave me a RMA# and told me to ship the dead unit to them. He said that, when they receive it, they will ship me a new one.

I recently purchased a Phonesuit Mili that is en route right now, because I needed something fast for my upcoming travels, but at least the manufacturer seems to be standing behind their product. We shall see how long this one lasts.
