Iphone reading wise

How good are Iphone for reading say.. text/ebooks compared to an Android phone?

I know that Iphones have good resolution but one of their major draw back is their small screen.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S2 and even though it sports a 4.3 inch screen the resolution are a measly 800x480 pixels..

Which would be better for reading for you? Higher resolution but smaller screen size or bigger screen size and lower resolution?

The correct answer is they both suck. The screens are too small to read ebooks comfortably. This is when a tablet or e-reader makes more sense.

this. i have a nook color, which i love for the 7" form factor for general tablet use and reading.

i also have an ipad2, and if i want to get away from my pc and read for an extended period, 9 times out of 10 that is what i read on. thats the only thing i like the larger form factor for

Well ok but what is more comfortable on the eyes for just slight reading.. Like I have a wikipedia app and there are just loads of article I can do to kill some time.

bigger screen size if youre just looking at new phones...i went from a 3.8" phone to a 4.3" and while its not an amazing difference in reading, its definitely noticeable and is one of the reasons i upgraded. again, its not great to do a lot of reading, but if youre just going to kill time browsing or something its nice to have. /my electrify is 540 x 960

Hahahhaa...I see the numbers game going around with phones and tablets....why do you need such a high resolution display on a small screen?

acceptable if all you're doing is reading a news article or email while waiting for the train, but I wouldn't want to read an entire book on it.

Higher resolution but smaller screen size would work better for me.

In fact, I think the general rule for reading is you need super high resolution all the time. Otherwise the iPad 2 would be better than Kindle at reading, but we all know that's not true.

To me, the absolute sharpness of text doesn't matter compared to the size of it.
The eye strain from reading text on a 3.5" display is a lot worse that noticing jagged edges on a larger screen.

I get along pretty well reading e-books on my Samsung Fascinate that has a 800*480 4" Pentile display.
I don't think that I could say the same for an iPhone.

Why not higher resolution and larger screen size? There are a decent number of 720p Android phones to chose from that offer larger, higher resolution screens that the iPhone. If pixel desnity is inportant to you the HTC Rezound even beats the iPhone in that regard too.

Personally I have found Super AMOLED screens to be the best for reading when you use a black background with white text.

I have read tons's of books on my iphone 3gs and a few on the 4s.

The text is huge, i read text larger than paper books. Just has way more pages. You get used to flipping through pages it is easy
