iPhone posts

Where is the AT-sanctioned location to post items about the iPhone? It seems that the two most popular places are "Gadgets Gear and Phones" and "All Things Apple" (as well as some stuff in "Off Topic"). Are both (all) "proper"?

Can an iPhone sub-category be far off? 😉

Not going to happen.

How about an "Everything Smartphone/Win Mobile/iPhone/Android/et al" sub-category?

MotionMan

Forum just for you

So, then, as I thought, the answer to my first question would be that iPhone posts should go in "Gadgets Gear and Phones".

I knew with enough prompting, someone would come to the same conclusion as me. Thank you for proving my point.

We all thought it was obvious.

We all thought it was obvious.

Except that many people post about the iPhone, which is made by Apple, in "All Things Apple" (and "Off Topic") and those threads are not being moved to "Gadgets Gear and Phones".

I thought they should be in GGP, but I was not sure if the management had an opinion (or realized it was going on).

Oh give it up, just like everyone else complaining about the forums and too many, not enough, wrong names blah blah blah. There is no single way to organize forums of this size that will appease all the users. All you can do is post where YOU think it belongs based on the descriptions and YOUR interpretations of them, and if a mod thinks it belongs somewhere else they will move it. That's what they are here for!

I undertand. However, after I got my iPhone, I started to pay attention to iPhone threads and realized the threads were in two (or three) different places. I figured if I waited a bit, a decision would be made by the mods as to where the threads would go. I figured wrong 😉.

So, the purpose of this thread was to, hopefully, get the attention of the mods who cover "All Things Apple" and "Gadgets Gear and Phones" and, maybe, prompt them to make a decision.

We shall see.

I know it doesn't work properly, but search does help with problems like this..............

I can, but I choose not to. If I asked this question by PM, then others would not know that the question has been asked and, of course, I would have missed out on all the friendly banter in this thread. 😉

So does setting up Keyword Watches, which I do, but that is not my point.

I had no idea this was such a hot-button topic!!!

Do you think a bot Mods the forums?

I am not sure what you mean, but the thread in question has "iPhone" in the subtitle, been on page one of OT for two days and has over 160 replies (No. 6 on the hot topics list).

Not exactly a stealth thread that would be prone to slip through the cracks.

(as a member, my 2 cents) I think it should go in the Apple forum. It natively interfaces with everything else Apple, so that makes the most sense to me. Its also rather unique as a phone.

GGP should be merged with D&VC, pull in Notebooks, and simply call it Mobile Devices. 😛

Hmm... and I'd also merge VC&G with A/V&HM, and call it Sound and Vision.

And merge PCG and CG into simply "Gaming"...

and...

okay I'll stop. 😱

I'd love to see the two groups squabble all day.
