Which do you prefer iPhone or Droid? This is a question about your personal preference, and your preference alone.

EDIT: Just for clarification, I am referring to Android.

Android. But I loathe Verizon's 'Droid' branding, its led to so much market confusion among consumers. 🙁

Random Person: I have a Droid Evo 4G!
Me: No, you have an HTC Evo 4G, which runs the Android OS.
Random Person: No, its a Droid.
Me: *facepalm*

I love my Nexus S especially all the Google Services integration (Calendar/contacts etc) but things like not being able to play a game cause I don't have processor XYZ is really frustrating.

Well, no preference really. Both has its own advantages. Personally, I'm using an iPhone 4, and will be using an iPhone next (likely iPhone 4S) until a viable Android alternative is available. The last one before the iPhone 4 was a Samsung Captivate.

Used a few Android phones and switched to an iphone. First of all, the main reason I switched to iphone is because I listen to lots of podcasts and the experience is much better on iphone. You can just go right to the itunes store from the phone and download them. On android, I have to use a program like google listen, which is in beta still, and not that great, and put the rss feed in and get them that way. Of course then, I'm limited to the rss feeds that I already have whereas with iphone all of the different categories and shows are right there and I can add new ones easily.

With that being said, the main things I like better about android-
1. more choice in devices (bigger screens, more power processors, etc)
2. voice input on keyboard, and alternate keyboards like swype
3. integrated google navigation
4. no need to use itunes
5. notification bar system
6. more free ad supported apps

my things I like better about iOS-
1. the aforementioned podcast scenario
2. kickass ipod built in/cover flow/ podcast ease of use, organization
3. buttery smooth performance despite lesser hardware specs
4. retina display on iphone 4 is really nice

That is just a quick summary of my favorite features, I don't have time to go into the cons of each so I'll just point out what is better in each of them for now.

The big ass screens on the Bionic/Droid X are awesome. And out of the box I like the lock screens and messaging notifications better.

But when it comes to pure in hand feel, looks and response the iphone is a much more enjoyable experience hardware specs be damned. And it's battery life is excellent.

I've got my iphone4 jailbroke and most of my complaints have been addressed by cydia apps.

My preferred platform is Windows Phone 7...however, I think each platform has a distinct value and audience, and I personally swap my SIM to severa different phones depending on my current needs.

I've run every version of Android since the G1, like it a lot and it's matured into a decent mobile OS, that being said, I'm jumping to a iPhone when it gets LTE, maybe a CDMA version before then...

All I need is a reliable network, a good browser, a good email client and a good eTrade app and I'm a happy camper, and I've grown tired of constantly tweaking Android. If iOS doesn't have a good GPS/navigation solution when I buy, I'll buy a standalone GPS.

I have an iPhone 4 due to work obligations, and I miss my Android devices. I'll probably pick up a blacklisted Droid X for around the house browsing.

This is a computer enthusiast forum, so the results of this poll in general are going to skew towards Android.

Both platforms have their merit. iPhones (and Windows Phones) have better media playing capabilities (with their iPod and Zune interfaces) than Android phones.

Android excels with Google apps. If Google Maps, GMail, and Google Voice are things you use on a daily basis, Android will be a much better experience.

I run different OS's on my phone but primary is Android. Very customizable and lots of hardware to choose from with an ever growing ecosystem.
In terms of maturity, Android closed on iOS, and WP7 is getting there too.

P.S. Glad to see this thread hasn't been derailed. No matter how one feels about products coming from other camps, the truth is they challenge one's favorite platform to improve and yield better products.

bigger screens and an interface that takes up less space, faster hardware, replaceable battery, lte===>android is much better

i have att w/ iphone 3gs and a verizon droid

I'm fine with both. I'm currently using Android and have been since the Hero on Sprint. But my next phone is going to be the iPhone 5. I love my iPad 2 and want to consolidate OS's. Both OS's have there positives and negatives. I just don't get the nut swingers on either side.

I have a android phone now. I prefer android due to more flexibility and more choices. The main reason I don't have an iPhone? Well I don't like the "typical" user. I am not refering to people on here, but normal every day people. My own sister every time she is by my house oh my iphone can do this this this this and this! OMG it is so great I bet your's cant do this!!! Of coruse she is always wrong 🙂 So I guess I have some bias there. Kidding of course, that isn't my main reason, just one of my reasons lol.

Either way, I like my android phone, but I know it is not perfect too. I am really looking foward to the Nexus Prime /w ICS to see what google is doing there. I think that may be the closest to my perfect phone so far. Buttt I won't make that judgement until the cards are on the table /w ICS and iphone 5.

after 6 months on android after 18 months with an iphone 3GS i'm waiting for the iphone 5

email on android is crap. you have to configure a gmail account and then if you want push a second push account for gmail and other accounts. and the HTC/Moto email clients are complete crap compared to iOS. either no push support to subfolders or they don't give you the number of unread messages in each folder. and on Moto the back button is always exiting out of the client which is annoying

no support for connecting to ad hoc networks

google navigation is crap and always looses GPS signal

app support is crap and you may have to wait months for popular apps

flash is next to useless

paper specs are useless. i have seen iphones with 1/3 the RAM work just as fast or faster as android phones of the same generation. my work droid pro has 384MB of RAM and is not as fast as my 3GS

it seems the entire android experience is based on rooting, installing new ROM's every day and waiting for the next version that is supposed to fix all the current bugs

I've used both for a long time. While I love the customization of Android, iOS has all the apps. Most of the apps I use are available on both platforms, but iOS ones just work with little headache.

+ I have so much money invested in iOS apps now, it would be hard to go back to Android. That said, I still want to ditch my iPad for an Android tablet. 🙂

You know you could have just talked about the positives of iOS instead of crapping on Android with exaggerations and it wouldn't come off as trollspeak. 🙂

I've used both pretty heavily, but at the end of the day, I prefer Android. I like having a variety of handsets to choose from instead of being limited to a single model. I like being able to customize the interface to meet my wants/needs, and Google Maps + Navigation has been great for me.

I'll stick my neck out and say that they both suck. My last phone was an iPhone 3G, and I got a Droid X after that. Both phones have had major problems.

For example, both platforms have flaky apps that crash frequently. I'm not talking about stupid little flashlight and fart noise apps, either... I'm talking about popular applications like Pandora and the CNBC stock viewer applications. Both phones have also had bad operating system releases that caused the phone to be unstable. The phones would randomly freeze up, stop updating my inbox for no good reason, take forever to load even basic applications, and drain their batteries in a matter of hours. The latest releases have helped, but the issues are still there.

That said, I found the iPhone 3G to be slightly more stable before they released iOS 4.x and screwed it up. The iPod media player still better than any Android offerings. The Android phone has some advantages as well, like Flash support (and yes, I actually use Flash on my phone) and Google Navigation.
