iPhone iOS 5 push email not working

Anyone else having trouble getting push e-mail to work? I am using a yahoo account and it is set up right. It will work for a little right after adding the account, but then doesn't do push anymore.
I have to go to the mail app and it then checks manually for mail.

I tried the delete your account from your phone and add it again, but it doesn't work after a little again.

Is this a iOS 5 bug or what? This is probably the most annoying thing with this phone.

If you set it up by clicking the yahoo thing it won't push, you have to go in and do a manual set-up as exchange. I have gmail set-up that way and it works perfectly.

Yeah. It should already automatically do push. For me, Yahoo has been awesome in the push notification area. Like whenever I get a new email on Yahoo it instantaneously pushes to my iPhone no problems.

Not sure if its yahoo, or the iOS 5. If its yahoo I'll switch to gmail.

Yeah. iOS 5. Just tested it by sending myself and email. Nearly instantaneous lock screen notification. When both work, Yahoo works better than Gmail notifications (using Exchange).

You know that yahoo supports push email natively on iOS? It was a big selling point with the original iPhone.

I deleted the account (for the 2nd-3rd time), restarted the phone, and added it again. Seems to be working fine now. Will see how long that lasts.

Won't start working unless I delete and add my yahoo account again. Then same cycle, works for a bit, then stops. I've been to the apple store 2 times now, and they even replaced my phone (4S), didn't fix the problem.

There was a 10 page thread on it at the apple support website. Doesn't seem people know the fix except to delete the account and try again. After the 3rd delete and add it seems to be working OK now, although it did miss 3 emails last night. Today has been fine though. I deleted the account, then restarted, and then added it.

Any updates on this? My girlfriend is having this problem and the same thing happens...it works when i delete and recreate the email account, and then poops out and stops working.

The only thing I noticed is... leave the mail in the inbox screen like here

If I go back to the all mail accounts screen like here and close the mail app it won't work like here http://www.weedott.com/wp-content/aj-all-in-one-inbox.png

Also, when/if it stops working I go in the multi-tasking screen (press home twice) and close the force close the mail app (hold the icon and press the x), then re-open it. It starts to work again. Or you can just restart the phone and it will work again, but force-closing is easier. It seems to be working fine for me if I close it in the inbox screen, which I guess I am OK with.

I am on ios 5.0.1 on an iphone 4 if that matters.

Guys, finally found the glitch for this push service form yahoo email account.


problem:i wasn't getting badge icon notification for any new email coming from yahoo account only. exchange, hotmail was working fine. i had to actully go into yahoo account and refresh to retrive new emails..

Solution:
I had no alert set for any new email for my all email account before. ( yahoo, gmail, exchange etc) no sound no vibrate.
so went back to sound and enable the sound for new email and i start to get email notification in my mail for yahoo account. (before i had to go into yahoo and refresh to get new emails) now it was there. then i changed back to no sound and no vibrate and still i was getting email push by yahoo. so i guess it requires some refresh in new email settings to make it work.. hope this will help..
