Yah that's why I said fast forward to 1:00, too much Red Bull or something

That's really cool. I have to admit, now that I have a touchscreen head unit/navi interface, I'm much less averse to fewer buttons than I thought I'd be -- but highly sensitive to UI layout. Done right, something like that could be really awesome.

If, however, I have to hit Menu -> Audio Source -> Off to turn off my radio/ipod/whatever, like I do now, not good 🙂

Appeared to be the typical hipster apple user to me. It's kind of their market.

I found the touch screen fascinating, because it opens up a whole world of possibilities for custom programming the inside of your vehicle to your tastes. Unfortunate this will probably never see production.

However, what might see production is what head units can do once the OS 3.0 comes out. Since it will allow proprietary software and peripherals, a manufacturer can make a headunit that fits an ipod Touch, and then that is the control system. Accesses the music on the touch, but can also control the radio and CD deck.

Screen is too small.

Trust me, anything smaller than what fits on a double din (5.8") is too small to do anything with unless you're parked.

I'm not saying it couldn't be done, or that it wouldn't sell a few units, but with the ipod touch, it would be unusable. Maybe that's where those 10" screens are headed, but at that point, that's going to be an OEM partnership. It's not Apple's style to sell a 10" barnacle for the car interior.
