iPhone + Gym = Perfect (for me at least)

My new 24-hour gym has free wifi, and paired with my iPhone (or iPod Touch if I had one) makes a perfect combo.

1. I can stream any of my music (or potentially even videos/movies) from my home computers using either Telekenesis or iPhone Remote (OSX) or Orb (windows).

2. I can stream Sirius to my iPhone using a combo of Orb and uSirius (windows only)

3. I can listen to any of my podcasts on the fly using Wizzard Media Receiver

4. I can program in my weekly workout schedule, then program notes each day while at the gym with the actual weights and time spent on cardio.

5. I can use the stopwatch to time my cardio between the multiple machines I usually end up using.

6. I can call for help if I hurt myself while no one else is there.

I thought I was going to need an iPod shuffle for the gym, but my iPhone turns out to be a great little tool to have around.

I wouldn't bring an iPhone with me to workout. If I had one I'd put it in the locker along with my gym bag and clothes.
Sure, it's nice, but it's also bulky and what happens if you start sweating and it slips out/gets moisture in it?

I'd just buy a shuffle.

The iPhone would be perfect for me at the gym too if I didn't work out. ;) Too much sweat, too much moving around. Whatever works for you though.

I just got mine and absolutely adore it.

Do you have an arm band or something for it? The equipment I use doesn't have stands or any place to put my iPhone, so I use a clip-on Shuffle :D

Rather than doing all that funky streaming stuff, I just put music on my iPhone the normal way, and then listen to it at the gym.
