My understanding is the Ovi Map on Nokia is actually quite good, but since they are giving up Symbian and going with WP7 that may be a moot point.

I downloaded and used the Mapquest app this past weekend and it was actually really good with voice spoken turn by turn directions. it's free too.

I'll have to give that a try. I've been trying to use Navigon and it's been nothing but fail here in Washington DC. Maps will pin down my location fast enough, but when I go launch Navigon to get turn by turn directions it can never locate me.

I miss Google Nav.

I'm right outside of dc and it worked fine going from rockville to arlington. ip4 on verizon here, if that makes any difference.

Heya, a fellow local. :awe:

Yeah I just tried Mapquest and it definitely seems to work better than Navigon. I'm using a Verizon iPhone too.

Yeah, I've been using the free Mapquest for navigation for a while. It works really well and don't see a need to pay for one of the other nav apps.

Sounds like a signal or device problem as I've used Navigon for a while and it's been a HUGE help and surprisingly accurate given the phone's limitations.

That's what I first thought, but the regular maps app locks down my location in no time and is able to find and route directions very quickly. Navigon can't even find my home address, that should have been my first clue...
