App store is what's going to keep myself and many others with Apple.

More doesn't = better. It's proven that people will spend much more money on the Apple Apps store than any other phones. That will bring in and keep better developers. While I'm not doubting the Android market will be pretty nice, it won't touch what Apple has in place. Good developers will develop for the platform they can make more $$$ on, not the one with the most apps.

You're saying 2 different things then say you're needs and take your needs as everyone else's and present it as evidence. The Android app store is entirely different than the Apple app store. Apple puts tight control over who and what can be on it. Google isn't commie like Apple is and Google does charge the developers as much like Apple does and there will be more Android phones out there than iPhones so you can guarantee that the developers would make more money on the Android market, not the one with the most apps like the Apple store. You said more doesn't = better and Apple's app store is more so that means it's not better according to you.

Not wanting to derail this thread, but it is germane to remember that iphoneOS developers can potentially tap a much larger market than just iphone users. They can also sell to iPad and iPod Touch owners as well. I think it will take android devices a lot longer to close that gap than the pure phone gap.

EDIT:

lol, this story just gets better and better:

Umm... just... wow. Someone in the comments said it best. "This is like the Jersey Shore of Apple stories."

Guess the internet really is serious business. :awe:

lol seriously.

The only way that this saga could get any better is if it is indeed some hoax pulled by a guy who completely fooled Gizmodo (and everyone else) and got $5,000 for a chinese knockoff.

So I guess Apple wants it back now. Guess they just confirmed it's real for the most part.

http://gizmodo.com/5520479/a-letter-apple-wants-its-secret-iphone-back

What a silly chain of events but I still really wouldn't be surprised if it's all staged. Yeah, it's not like Apple but who knows for sure these days what they'll do next.

I don't doubt that that device belongs to Apple (prototype/test unit), but am hoping that's not the final casing, mainly due to the lack of volume rocker and seams. Other than that, I'm cool with it.

Apple did just get a patent for the shape of the iPhone/Ipod Touch...why would they go and change it so much?

I'd love a one word answer from Steve...."nope".

I have to say after reading gizmodo's explanation of how they got the phone and then their response to apple (in which they admit the phone was stolen!?) I think they handled this pretty poorly. Especially when they outed the guy. I wouldn't blame apple for banning them from wwdc from now on.

I think it's all bullshit. The guy's facebook page is fake, and the apple's letter is not very threatening (which it would be in real life), and Gizmodo has always been very close to Apple. I think every single post on Gizmodo is just viral marketing.

I tend to go with the "staged" theory as well.

It's an awful lot of coincidences if it's not.

One axiom I tend to find true in life is: "there are no coincidences"

Especially since Jobs reads Gizmodo.

Umm, yes it does mean exactly that, at least in English.
"All Things Apple" means ALL Things Apple go into that forum.

As the GG&P moderator, my thoughts on this are that Apple makes a variety of computers, software and portable gadget products. As long as the discussion is on one of the portable Apple products, then I believe it fits in the GG&P forum.

The name "All Things Apple" does seem to say "if you are talking about Apple stuff, do it in this forum" but on the other hand, Apple makes products that are of interest to gadget people (like myself) who pay absolutely no attention to anything else that Apple makes. The whole point of having forums is to compartmentalize posts, but I believe posts on Apple's Gadgets and Phones fit in the GG&P forum.

Exactly

The Apple forum isn't exactly full of gadget freaks, they love their OS, and their Mac's
