iPhone for use in Vietnam?

My mother in law is visiting here, and wants to buy an iPhone to take back to Vietnam. Anyone know if this is even possible? Will it have to be jail broken, or does anyone know of another way to do this? I don't know anything about cell phone carriers there.

I go back to VN all the time.
Just get an unlocked iPhone and you're good to go.
All VN carriers uses GSM.
And its very very easy to get a local SIM card there.

At the Apple Store. Or you can buy one online at http://store.apple.com.

I think you can have better deals (and no tax) on Amazon so make sure to check there as well. But if you are going Amazon, make sure to read the description of the seller very carefully before placing the order.

Where do I get an unlocked iPhone?

You can get a factory unlocked iPhone 4 now for $659 or look under craigslist for software unlocked iPhones.
~ $120 3G
~ $200-$250 3GS
~ $450-up for IP4
The craigslist way takes alot more work and if you don't know what you're looking for, you might get screwed.

Its no where near that much.
I was just there in April and going back end of Sept.
I brought back a 16gb 3GS in nice condition last time for friend and I charged her what I paid for it, $250.
Her friend bought the same 3GS in VN for $350.

My mother in law told me there are plenty of knock off being sold as real iPhones and mentioned that they are very expensive there.

Will probably just got to the apple store, since she leaves on Saturday.
