iphone Do Not Disturb missing one feature/control

The new iOS 6 silent mode is brilliant, but there is one missing control – it remains impossible to turn off the phone ringer and still receive audible notifications (calendar, etc).

Sometimes I am in environments (cubicles etc) where a single ding is OK, but a ring ring is not. This is especially true because my desk phone forwards to my iphone so it rings a lot.

I agree with this and don't understand why it wasn't implemented while they were paying attention to this type of functionality.

Apple and Google can't apply what you want every time they update. They usually don't add new features unless a new flagship phone comes out. (iPhone for apple but nexus for Google)

You can make a custom ringtone in iTunes of a silent or muted sound...

And then you can make that sound your new ringer.

And thus... you won't even need "Do Not Disturb".

Seriously, I do that all the time. It works.

Nice workaround. This thread is won!

When you are in so many meetings and conferences, you eventually find ways to do things. ;)

But I must admit... Apple could have made a new "Silent" or "None" option in their list of ringtones. It wouldn't take much at all.
