iPhone calling problems

So I got a new 3GS, 3.0.1. Been having this problem, updated to 3.1.2, still having this problem & more:

1. Sometimes I make a call, but all I hear is my voice if I say "hello". Mic -> earpiece speaker. Very odd. Happens daily. The person I'm calling hears one ring, then a hangup. If I call back again right away, same deal. If I let it sit for a minute or two, usually I can make the call.

2. The phone will drop a call in the middle of a call. 5 bars. Not moving from my spot, just poof, drops the call out of the blue. I've dropped calls before, but usually when I go into an area with poor reception or something.

3. Had some weird battery issues with 3.1.2 - would suddenly drain & turn itself off, in a matter of minutes.

Defective phone, or funky software? Gonna try a full restore today. Not jailbroken btw.

What the heck, it just did it again. Over 75% battery, incoming call, went to answer it and it shut down out of the blue. Nice cool room so it's not overheating, latest software (3.1.2), not jailbroken. Arggg...

Try resetting the network under "settings, general, reset." Yah, I tell this to everyone who has network problems but it's easy to do and doesn't cost or harm anything.

My 3G used to do something similar when I first got it. It would always hang up almost exactly 5-10 seconds into the call, both incoming and outgoing. The network reset trick fixed it. I bought it from a third party retailer (T-Booth, a chain that sells just cell phones) and they apparently set it up wrong. With all the weird glitches, sometimes I think the iPhone has become self aware. Skynet: there's an app for that.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

I just talked to my brother, he says he has the exact same problems with his 3GS - echo calls/dropped calls & random power issues.

I think its a software issue. 3.2 overall is just buggy for me. My battery life have been sucking not to mention some weird dropped calls out of nowhere. Then again, it could just be ATT and the coverage around your area too.

Nah, I've had both the first and second-gen iPhones, now with the third-gen I'm having all kinds of random, weird issues. My brother lives about 20 or 30 miles south of me, totally different account, and his 3GS has the same problems. Odd.

We'll see if that network reset trick worked...I'll report back if it goes bonkers again...
