iPhone apps to fix it's "problems"?

I'm up for an equipment upgrade for ATT and I was thinking about getting an iPhone. I've read that you can't send MMS messages. I've also seen a few apps out there that allow this. Has anyone used these apps? How well do they work? I read about flutter, will the recipient get a link or a picture when they receive the message? I've read about a few others but they all require jailbreaking the phone. Id rather not deal with this because I don't use windows XP (I have 2000 lol) so I won't be able to sync the phone. On a side note, is there a way to get the iPhone compatible with windows 2000?

When I have used the iPhone, the keyboard has been a pain to use. I send about 150-200 text messages a month, so I would prefer a better keyboard. Is there an app that makes typing easier? Does it work well?

I know the battery life sucks and there is no copy and paste, these don't seem like real issues to me. I'm sure charging it every night and having a car charger will do just fine.

If you don't want to Jailbreak it and are worried about the keyboard, then don't get one, because those are two huge things. Also, if I recall correctly, you can't use the phone at all until it is connected to a PC, so you may just be stuck.

just send it to the persons email and they can check it on their phone via email.

I send 2,000+ texts a month. Iphone keyboard is easy to use. It has auto correct so even if u mess up it corrects it for u. Its helpful 99% of the time.

I've got you beat, I don't recall ever sending, nor receiving an MMS. It is stupid it doesn't support it, but to be honest, I don't know anyone who actually uses it. We all use e-mail.

Ditto and QFT.

To be honest, I am not sure I had even ever heard of MMS until I heard that the iPhone did not support it.

If you want to get angry about a missing feature, get mad about no built in IM application.

That is what drove me from it. No mobile Ichat? WTF?

AIM is a free app. One of the first I installed. Works great.

Really? My friends and I use MMS a lot. I have a Palm Centro, and it's really fast to take a pic, hit the envelope icon in the camera app, and enter the contact and a text. I suppose I could reconfigure that to open the mail app instead, but the mms uploads the pic and sends them a link in one step. I find it really convenient.

I'm bumping this because I am heading to the store tomorrow and would like to see a few more posts about it.

I use MMS frequently enough (a few times a week) - and I know a lot of other people that do. Doing it through email is a pain in the ass. It works, but its still a pain in the ass. Especially since not everyone even HAS email on their phone.

Every phone has an email address:
Here's how to do it:

1) open a photo on your iPhone
2) click on the send photo link (bottom left hand icon)
3) select to email the photo
4) using the table below, enter the phone number of the person you want to send to, followed by the email prefix for their provider
Service Provider MMS Email Prefix
Verizon vzwpix.com
AT&T/Cingular mms.att.com
Sprint/Nextel messaging.sprintpcs.com
T-Mobile tmomail.net
Virgin vmobl.net
Boost Mobile myboostmobile.com
Alltel message.alltel.com
Amp'd Mobile vzwpix.com

So, for instance, if you wanted to send an email to a Verizon user who's number was 8175551212, you'd send to 8175551212@vzwpix.com.

Works great to send, but receiving them will still have to be thru your normal email account since the iphone doesn't have an mms.att.com email address. Or at least I've never been able to get one that way. They can still send it to you like a regular MMS message, but you'll have to log into an AT&T website to view it.

But again, I'm like most people on here and rarely use it. And when my wife does send me a picture in email I'm usually glad she sent it that way because it comes in at full resolution instead of a downsized MMS.

Yes, I'm aware of that - but its kinda a pain in the ass still, I don't know everyone's provider.

this simply sends a text message to the phone. for many carriers, that doesn't include attachments, just the text of the message. mms will actually automatically download the picture to my phone. no clicking links/launching mobile browsers or anything. i use it a couple times a month
