iPhone 6 Battery Replacement

The battery on my iphone 6 (not an S and not a plus) acts very wonky, and I'd like to replace it. The web is teaming with a multitude of different vendors offering batteries, but it's difficult to decipher which one actually offers a decent product. Can anyone recommend a particular vendor that offers a decent replacement (e.g. won't catch fire, won't fail in a month, etc.)?
 
I was looking at ifixit's and they add just under $12 for shipping so it winds up being pretty expensive. While hemming and hawing....errrr researching.... about it a while back I thought they were selling the pack on eBay with free shipping but I couldn't find the normal 6 when I looked today.

Just a heads up, if you put anything other than OEM battery in the phone Apple will refuse to work on it. I wanted to get my speaker replaced and the genius said that because I had my battery replaced at batteries plus that Apple wouldn't touch it.

Thanks, but at 3 years old and long out of warranty, there is no reason I would bring my phone to Apple for anything.
 
I got a $11 battery replacement kit off of ebay and installed it a month ago. It solved all of the battery issues I had. Installation was very easy other than getting the old battery out, as it did not work anything like the video I watched showed about pulling the 2 sticky white strips up. I ended up spending like 40 minutes or so with a hair dryer and credit card to get that sticky crap off.

But other than that part, everything was a breeze and it's very easy.

The battery installation was pretty straight forward. I've only discharged it once (installation occurred yesterday), but it appears to have corrected the issue where the battery percentage was always off and jumping around like crazy. The only potential issue I've noticed is that it seems to be taking a while to fully charge it, but that could be due to my expectations with the last battery. I'll monitor the performance over the next few weeks and see if that continues along with determining if the new battery can last a full day with only one charge.
 
I had my iPhone 6 battery replaced. Not only did it give me back the original battery life, but my CPU speed went from 600MHz back to the original 1400MHz.

Underclocking the CPU based on remaining battery capacity... Nice one Apple! 🙄

iOS 11 went from almost unusable to decently quick.
 
Mine was replaced at the Apple Store, ebay batteries are hit or miss.

iPhone 6 with latest iOS, first discharge cycle lasted me almost 3 days! 😀 And definitely faster.

They probably have some way to "reset" the phone at the store to tell it there is a new battery and revert back to normal speed. I would bet if you change it yourself there is no way to return it to its original speed.

Plenty of people on other forums are reporting that CPU speeds came back to normal after swapping batteries themselves. (with non-OEM batteries)

I'd recommend getting the batteries from iFixit. Only a few bucks more than random sellers, but you're sure they're quality batteries.

And definitely don't go to the Apple Store. It's more expensive, and I had to argue to get mine replaced as it was showing 82% capacity left. The official policy is to not replace batteries above 80%, even if the customer wants to pay for it.

Yeah.. we would probably get something like $1.27 (it's never a round number), but the law firms who filed the suit will get millions.

I got my iPhone battery replaced by Apple a few months ago, back when they still cost $79 to fix. I think that Apple owes me a $50 refund.

What's funny is that people have been claiming "OMG, my phone was being throttled without warning, Apple is EVIL!!!", which is total BS. In my case, my phone showed a warning that the battery was bad in the Settings screen. The wording of it was pretty vague (link below), but at least it let me know that I would likely encounter problems until the battery was replaced.

I have a 6S that just went off of Applecare about a week before Christmas. Since iOS 11, my batt performance has gone to sh*t. Given an article on Ars that stated that Apple would replace batts even if they passed their diagnostic, I took a chance and called tech support yesterday. I was on the phone for over a half hour. At the end, the lady said that Apple would replace my battery and set up an appointment with the local store. Thing is, I never got the email confirmation that she said was on the way. So idk if I actually have an appointment or not. BTW, my battery dropped about 12% while I was on the phone with her.
 
I think apples battery replacements should be free. I mean, they will be making 30 bucks a pop now! cmon! I hope the lawsuits prevail.
 
I do not mind paying $29 for the battery. I know they will not last forever. I do not think they are doing me any favors at that price seeing what I can buy the battery for on the secondary market. I am not happy with having to wait 2-5 weeks. That is ridiculous!

What is the 2-5 week wait for? $29 is a very reasonable price in my opinion. It includes installation, too. I work at Geek Squad, and we do the battery swaps in store. The batteries were backordered for a while, but we have most of them in stock now (varies by store). Each one requires approval from Apple, and if there are any issues found with the phone like 3rd party tampering, we have to escalate it to them and they usually deny the repair. Our best tech has been doing them 40 hours a week since we started, and it takes him about half an hour. When he first started doing them they took almost two hours each. For them having to restart production on four different battery lines that haven't been made in like two years, $29 is pretty damn reasonable, and likely is barely covering the installation labor they are paying out.
 
I just got mine replaced. The online chat Apple person told me 2-5 weeks. Then 6 days later I got a call from Best Buy saying it was now in stock. I got it replaced yesterday.
