Samsung most likely do, but so far their own SoC designs are all bog-standard ARM cores probably which means a combination avoiding IP infringement lawsuits or lack of expertise to capitalize on that knowledge.

Since 8/10 new phones run Android most of the competition will be between them but I don't think that gives apple a free pass to not be judged the same way. After all they are a SOC maker now, you would think people would want to know how good they are at it.

iPhone 5S (AT&T) - 1634.4
HTC One (Sprint) - 648.7
Galaxy S4 (Sprint) - 636.5
iPhone 5C (AT&T) - 583.9
Moto X (AT&T) - 293.8

Yes, the iPhone 5S is more than twice as fast as the nearest competitor in that list, and almost three times the speed of the 5C. I assume this is Java. Doesn't say there.

I suspect the real reason they use these tests is because they're easy to run. It's not their fault the Java implementation on XYZ OS is not as well optimized.

No Droid Maxx because likely they got the phone for a quick review and that's it. If Brian has it still I bet he would've included it in the iPhone 5 Review when they modified the test bench.

No Note 2 because it's a different category device.
 
They're phones, when a big tech site does a mobile phone battery comparison, one would expect to see all notable flagship phones. I don't recall them specifying that the phone must be X inches short to make the list.

I have a RAZR HD (1.5ghz DC Krait) vs an iPhone 5 on NFSMW and it's about a 20 second difference between the two to start playing.

I've mentioned it before, but my RAZR HD with JB 4.1 lags more than our iPhone 4 with iOS 7. Gaming is a totally different story though, since the iPhone 4 is ancient.

It's not Java on both Android and iOS, they are running native code on iOS vs Java on Android, hardly a fair test.

My old SGS3 scores 569mflops running a native multicore build of linpack and my Nexus 7 2013 gets 1.1gflops, that should put the S4 almost dead even with the 5S.
 
Which model (color/memory size) do you guys think will be the most popular? I am thinking of using my upgrade @AT&T to make some profit by resale.

I'm floored at how Apples dual core A7 laid waste to Snapdragon 800 and pretty much every other SoC out there. I expected a bump, 20 or 30% maybe, but this is ridiculous. They just made every other SoC vendor look like idiots, even Intel's tablet Bay Trail Processor looks obsolete and by association Windows with it.

I had about decided I prefer Android, and keep eyeing the Moto X, but this technology gap has me thinking again. This leap is going to be hard for their competition to match very quickly.

And of course, the new iPad has to be around the corner. A6 mini, A7X iPad?

It turns out that bench may be misleading. It's natively coded on the A7, but uses Java on Android. Nonetheless, it's still decent, even after factoring that in. A7 is a leader, not a me-too part.

Won't happen anytime soon.
Intel has a 20.3% stake in the company and depends on their chips for their mobile phones.

That company is worth almost a billion dollars and they earn almost nothing...No wonder both Intel and Apple haven't bought them out yet.

If these numbers for the Android phones come from Greene Computing's Linpack Pro, then the result is only comparable between runs of the same app on the same Dalvik implementation - the linpack part is fatally flawed in a whole bunch of ways. It's even less useful than Antutu IMO.
 
The apple 2 phone 5c/5s are not innovative but also look good and its software its software is effective to navigate.
These are the phone with new effects and next generation tech.

I haven't seen linpack numbers for Snapdragon 800 but given its substantial clock speed advantage vs S4 Pro and Snapdragon 600 it should clearly beat A7 from a performance standpoint.
 
I'm less interested in absolute performance than performance per watt in the mobile space with cell phone type usage.

But yeah, Qualcomm produces class leading chips too. Apple and Qualcomm seem to be the ones to beat.
