iphone 4 wont play mp3 from website

I am a computer guy, not much of an iphone guy. My wife wants to listen to the recordings at a website

http://www.santbaniashram.org/Satsangs.html

I can get there with Safari no problem, and clicking a recording link brings up a QuickTime screen and I can see the file is playing - the progress bar at top sure looks like it's moving along second by second. But no sound.

I can use the little switch on the side, to turn the speaker system on and off, and it's plainly ON, with volume cranked up full. Phoning works fine, so the speaker itself is not the problem

I just called a friend who did it on his iphone, and told me hey - it worked fine on his iphone.

So is there some setting that I just dont know about? Lots of googling hasnt found the answer yet

thx

Another friend has an iphone that can also play the mp3 files directly. so it really must be doable. It must just be some quicktime setting, thats all I can think

Yes, I tried a few of the links randomly and didn't have a problem. Agree with Stu's first step. Can you play anything else? Have you tried these files with headphones in?

I think it might be that the person put a non-MP3 file in a MP3 container. Most computers just run it as they don't care about container as much as the file inside.

But then that would be a core OS issue and it wouldn't work on any device. My iDevices have no problems playing those files.

Besides, they're all in the mp3 container anyways.

My wife says she can hear the files using headphones, so that's a puzzler. Headphones work for mp3, but the regular speaker doesnt, and the regular speaker works fine for phone calls

btw the files are genuine mp3. I am actually the guy who makes the recordings and converts them to mp3 and puts them on the website. Thats why I chose that site to practice on

I found a site with wav files, and those also open in Quiktime on the phone, and no sound comes out.

????

How do I get a file to actually get stored on the phone, so I can try to play it directly on the device? Sorry to ask a simple question like that, I just never use the thing. She wanted it for email and facebook, but I have no interest in more than a plain old phone so I have never learned how to work it

well it could be just a glitch try downloading the files on your computer and directly installing them on her phone and see if they work then. If not convert them to acc format so that the iphone can recognize them.

Which speaker are you referring to exactly? The loudspeaker at the bottom of the phone or the phone speaker at the top front of the phone?
