iPhone 4 as second computer screen?

I have come into a spare iPhone 4 and Apple dock.

Is there something cool or useful I could use them for, such as a second screen on my desktop Mac? Perhaps to show usage stats?

Air Display will allow it to be a second monitor. I believe its a few bucks. I have used it with an iPad before. Works well.

Photo frame, stock ticker, alarm clock.

There are about a million apps you could use if you just want a cool-looking gizmo at your desk. Remember it has GPS and a gyroscope as well. Get creative.

Second computer screen? It will be completely unreadable. That's one of the criticisms of Air Display 2 with the iPad Air.

Use it a jukebox or something.

I've used air display before. It's alright but WiFi is too slow to get good image quality. Okay in a pinch. Otherwise you just want to use a second monitor.

An iPhone screen would be too small anyway to be useful.

I bet Yosemite + iOS 8 will have some cool out of the box stuff. Not at all helpful here, I know, but just saying.

iOS 8 doesn't run on the iPhone 4.

You can jailbreak it, install synergy and use it somewhat as a second screen.
Use your desktop mouse and keyboard to control the apps on your phone!
