iPhone 4.0?

I have a hunch 4.0 is probably 8 months away. Maybe a October/November timeframe.

All the previous iPhone OS release (major releases) have been day and date with new hardware, but I think we'll see a new iPhone in June, Touch in Sept, iPhone OS in October and iPad Rev2 (Rev 1.5?) in November.

I think if iPhone OS 4.0 was a summer release, they would have demoed the iPads on that platform, even if they shipped with 3.2 and could be upgraded in a couple of months to 4.0.

Just my guess. I'm not serious about the iPad Rev2 this winter. It wouldn't surprise me, but I think it will be next summer before we see an iPad revision.

Usually they demo the new iPhone firmware in late March... so I wouldn't be surprised to see the iPad ship with 3.2, and have a small keynote at the Apple Campus with a 4.0 announcement shipping in July/August.

Wifi sync? Hardly the feature users are clamoring for. Backgrounding with sane app management is the #1.

I think we'll see a traditional release in June or maybe a bit earlier, I expect an OLED screen, 1 ghz cpu (likely the Apple designed, iPad CPU) The Nexus One & other Android OS phones are going to force Apple to step up a bit, think less restrictive apps, VOIP, and I'll bet if Apple continues with ATT, a more attractive rate plan.

I don't think it's going to be OLED. OLED is really bad in daylight. I agree with the same chip. Steve jobs did say that the next release of the iPhone was going to be an A+ upgrade. And good thing it's time to upgrade my iPhone this summer.

Less restrictive apps? What apps do you want on there?

VOIP? Skype/Fring are already on there.

Yep, and on the apps, I think Apple is loosening up a bit, relaxing the app store already.

Maybe an IPS screen.

I'd love it if they went to TMobile this year...

It's getting a lot more streamlined which is good news. And they're allowing a lot of things now. Just a slow start.

They may start actually unlocking the iPhones that are out of contract maybe.
