iPhone 2.0.1 firmware

I've had my iPhone now for over a year. It's the original non 3g model and have not had a problem with it. Safari was stable probably 95% of the time.

Since I've upgraded to this new firmware I've had nothing but problems. Texting via SMS lags around 2 keystrokes behind. Apps crash a lot and safari crashes all the time and doesn't render pages correctly. Even as I type this the text box is tiny. When I try to quote someone on here safari quits immediately.

Now I'm not sure if it's the phone or the firmware as this is a replacement phone I got about a month ago because my original phone's battery was losing it's charge.

Also I will have 5 bars and the EDGE logo and web pages won't load. I get a message that says cannot connect to the server. I then turn off/on the phone and it works. It's usually when I go from wifi (home) to EDGE (work).

Any of you guys having these issues?

Yep (on a 3g model, with 3g itself turned off because it's useless). Not only that, but mine often hangs on getting new mail.

I have the 2.0 software on my 1st Gen. I regret moving from 1.1.4. It is slow and crashes or lockups multiple times a week.

glad to see it's not only mine. I was worried it was the phone. I took some screen shots and I will post them later. The fw 1.1.4 was rock solid. I wish apps could run on that fw :(

Seriously if this 2.0 had been the original fw I probably would have returned this phone and wouldn't have recommended it to my friends. I hope they update this junk soon.

I'm going nuts with the text message key delay. The only thing that works (temporarily) for me is quitting out of the text app and reentering. I thought the new firmware fixed this..

Well I made an appointment to speak with a genius at my local apple store to have this thing checked out. Yesterday I was unable to browse the internet or check my mail unless I restarted the phone every time. Very annoying!!

so I went to the store and the genius said there was definately something wrong with the phone. So he looks up on his computer and finds out the phone is out of warranty. I then tell him my original phone was replaced because it was not holding a charge and this phone had a 90 day warranty. He then tells me that info was incorrect and that if I wanted it replaced it would be $199 or I could buy a 3g one. I said I wanted this one replaced and he said that was not an option.

I left the store and called apple and they said the replacement phone did infact carry a 90 day warranty and that I was under that. I now have to go back to the store tomorrow and get it replaced. This is the first time that anyone at apple has given me a hard time about replacing a defective item.
