iPhone 13 speculation accuracy?

I've seen several different reviewers speculate on the feature set of the next iPhone and since I've not kept up with it I was curious about how accurate they are. Each year androiders do the same thing and when the actual device drops only a very few turn out to be more accurate than the rest. Is this also true with the apple community?

Reason I ask is that I'm considering moving to apple for the cameras and 5g radio as it has all of the relevant channels and since its so hard to find an android phone with the features I'm looking for right now plus in the greater product cycle the iPhone will drop before the next generation of android devices.

I've been running a Samsung Note since they first hit the market and there's a lot of speculation that the next in the series will not appear this year as Samsung wants to put more emphasis on their folding lineup which costs too much and has durability issues.

Currently I run a Note 9 with 512gb of onboard storage plus a microsd card slot both of which I use. I also keep my entire iTunes library on it, 1.5k high bit rate albums that consume over 200gb storage. Moving to an iPhone would not be a thing as I can run everything I do now, however, if Samsung does bring a new Note to market with improved cameras I would probably just stay with it.

The Apple rumor community is different in that there are some sources that are virtually as good as gold.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman is legendary for his good contacts... if he says something is happening, it's very likely happening. Ditto any leaks to major publications like the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. Jon Prosser has gotten some things wrong, but he's been right more often than not. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is pretty good as well, although he's talking to supply chain sources and not people at Apple itself.

As an iPhone user who's likely going to buy the iPhone 12S (wouldn't count on it being called 13, for obvs reasons), the biggest appeal for the camera tech is simply the consistent quality. Apple isn't the best at everything, but it doesn't have obvious camera let-downs like you often see in the Android world (see: Samsung's exaggerated colors and oversharpening). Particularly for video — it's hard to find an Android phone that comes close in capture quality.

From the sounds of it, you probably won't see a new Note this year. Samsung cast doubt on that, of course, but I also haven't seen a single leak for a Note 21. Samsung's mid-year Unpacked event is believed to be taking place on August 11th, and if there's no Note there, you're not getting a new one.

It's just as well, since the iPhone 12S sounds like it should include some of the features you might miss as an erstwhile Samsung buyer (always-on display, 120Hz) while also delivering better overall cameras. And hey, look at it this way... if history is any indication, it'll be faster than the Galaxy S22, let alone the S21.

It's definitely an "S" year, but c'mon... a 120Hz always-on display and significant camera improvements (among other upgrades) are nothing to sneeze at given that Apple hasn't had those before.

Really? From what I've seen the August intros are all foldables, plus maybe the S21 FE. I thought you weren't keen on the Z Fold/Flip line.

The Google pixel 6pro specs just got leaked and they are very impressive, if you like big phones, and want to stay in the android ecosystem.

It depends on whether or not the Fold 3 has a more durable display, I imagine. I wouldn't count on a new Note — if there was one, we'd likely have seen leaks for it by now.

I guess if you are an avid iphone user those are great options. But, i've been primarily an android user so its more, "been there, done that" for me. My recently sold ipad pro 10.5 had 120hz screen and it was great until I replaced it for a Tab s7+. the screen on that is awesome.
