I'd really like to get a PDA soon, but I'm stuck on whether or not to get an hx2700 series or an hx4700 series. I guess I'm just asking how important the extra 64MB of onboard RAM is with Pocket PC's considering I've never owned one (does this limit the amount of software you can use, other than what comes preinstalled?). Ultimately, I think I'd prefer the VGA display of the 4705. Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That's what I thought. Any other reason to be concerned about the amount of onboard RAM?

if you like to run many things at once it helps. ie: i like running an mp3 and pocketIE reading AvantGo...
i find that 64 is enough for what i do, but if you have anything more in mind, then that's up to you
also, some programs will not install on memory cards. I believe adobe reader is one of them

the 4700 has the fun little track pad, sort of like a laptop, which is nice if you're not a fan of the stylus.

Yeah, I tried that out at OfficeDepot the other day. My heart's really settled on the 4700 series. I just don't know if I can bring myself to pay ~$500 for a PDA.

i happen to work at an OD, i checked the price system this morning to see if there were any good instant savings coming up on either of them in the next few weeks, unfortunately it doens't look as if anything is scheduled. i'll keep my eye out though and let you know. also, just a heads up, not sure if the OD near you is like this, but at my store the 4700 model ($499) is a special order item, so you'd have to wait a few days after you tell them you want it, normally only 2-3 extra days. where as the 2700 model ($449) we carry stays stocked in the store.

Thanks. The OD near me is actually the other way around. They have the 4700 in stock but don't carry the 2700.
