Hi all.

I just bought a used Compaq iPAQ 3950 Pocket PC from work for $10.

Just wondering what people use these things for, other than to play solitaire and as a remote?

It came with the base / charger, car adapter, LAN card, expansion pack, protective case, all the manuals, everything.

I have it fully charged and tested, everything works like a charm. I loaded some video and VLC player onto it. I also have a storage card that fits in it.

What should I do with this thing?

I use my old Axim in my kitchen with the PDA client for Big Oven for recipes. I also stream music to it via orb or web radio while I cook. The speaker is tinny, but sufficient until I can rig up something better.

EDIT: Oh wait, it looks like the 3950 doesn't have wifi...ignore my streaming suggestions at least.

I could use a new ipaq as my old one recently died. How much do you want for it? ;)

The older iPAQs have excellent consumer infrared. Put Novii Remote on it and use it as an excellent touch screen universal remote.

Ok - here's another question guys and thanks for the replies.

Can anyone recommend a media player for this thing? I tried to load VLC on there but I have no clue what the heck I'm doing and it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

venkman: if I decide to sell it, I'll give you a heads up!

edit: lol... 31 views and 1 vote :p

I'm the only one who voted :p So now you know my vote.

Load TCPMP v.071 on it. Plays almost everything, except Real media and Quicktime files.
