IPAD2 shipping dates

Hello all,

I am doing some traveling and have been asked to bring 2 ipad2s overseas to relatives. Long story short:

How are your experiences with the IPAD2 shipping dates? Are the delivery dates on the invoice accurate or are they usually delayed? How is the delivery service to apartments that have a caretaker that signs for packages? Do they require the person that purchased or will they drop off packages with a caretaker?

Ordered mine 2 weeks ago today...said 2-3 weeks. So far, not shipping yet. Methinks closer to 3 weeks it will be, but here's hoping! I've heard that it's not been later than the latest ship date...

They do require that you EITHER pre-authorize a drop, or have someone there to get it. They will attempt delivery 3 times then ship back to apple. The pre-authorization does allow for dropping off with a caretaker.
 
Just picked up another iPad2 for mom today. So far I have purchased 3 including today's. One for my fiancee, one for myself, and one for mom. I just walked in for all 3 and paid for them, and left in 5 mins.

Use inventory tracker.
 
Thanks for the replies all. Looks like I don't have much of a choice unless I go camp out a best buy/target for the truck to come by, so I'll just wait for my shipment and hope it comes before I leave the country.

All the times I've walked in with an inventory tracker, it has lied to me. =/ So frustrating. Even when I'm there with the inventory tracker and it said they had three, it wasn't true. It probably doesn't update until later in the day.
 
Nm just picked up a white one at a local target! They had four and sold out within half an hour.
