Hey look at that! The rumors were true. Apple will be holding a media event on March 2nd... and Engadget will be there live covering the whole thing. As you can tell by the image above (sent with the invite), this is going to be all about tablets -- iPads, to be exact.

Looks the same, what am I missing? Are they going to drop the price?

If there are overt external cosmetic changes I would imagine that they wouldn't put them onto the teaser image.

If it does look the same externally, on just that one corner, then I would imagine that it might not look the same on the other corners.

The UI looks the same though, and I think it's going to look stale next to Honeycomb. Design looks same too. If you are going to release a teaser image, at least show me a hint of something new.

Supposedly, the iPad 2 will be thinner, lighter, faster (CPU and RAM upgrade) and at least one camera (probably on the front for Facetime purposes). There's also rumors of there being either an SD card slot or a microUSB slot, but I'd venture a guess and say it may involve something with Lightpeak/Thunderbolt.

The UI has looked the same since 07 when the first iPhone came out, and if Apple was intending to revamp the UI on just the iPad, I don't think that they would have a working version by March 2.

Also, I don't think Apple usually does that with their teasers, they tend to give as little information as possible, because this image isn't for you, it is for the press, and they are going to show up regardless.

It's one corner. I'm sure there will be some new UI elements involved.

It was an image to the press, so I highly suspect that the image is just that of a current iPad, just so it's easier for anyone who sees it to think: oh, it's an event about the iPad.

If Apple showed something else that looked completely different, nobody would know what the heck the event is all about, and for all we know, they might even try to announce a new product that way, so they were trying to be as brief and simple as possible.

It better have some new UI elements. I'm concerned about the rumors that there will be a new iPad in fall this year meaning "Don't buy next week".

Isn't the new version of iOS rumored to be coming out with the new iPhone this summer? I'd imagine that would include any GUI revamps more so than just a new product release, unless it includes tablet-only changes!

The current UI is butter smooth, but at the same time a revamp is in order as it is starting to get long in the tooth.

I think it's LG I read about that is coming out with a tablet that actually has a physical form factor that makes sense when you hold it most of the tablet's weight is weighted towards your hand. Kind of like a magazine where you fold it in half with the rolled up part right in your hand. Makes things that much more easier to manage in terms of weight distribution and ease of use. Read it on engadget, not exactly sure if it's LG though, will have to double check. I hope Apple down the road takes a similar approach to ergonomics.
